A Resort Oasis in the City

During my stay at the Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit, the pool area and the poolside restaurant, The Sala, became my go-to spots for a mid-day break. Despite being located in the bustling heart of Bangkok, the pool area is beautifully landscaped, offering a quiet, resort-like atmosphere that feels worlds away from the city traffic.

Pool Experience and Considerations

While the setting is serene, there are a few practical things to keep in mind. The water temperature was quite cool during my visit, and because the area receives very little direct sunlight, it isn’t ideal for long, active swimming sessions. I found it better suited for a quick dip or simply lounging by the water.

It is also important to note that there is no dedicated kids’ pool. While there is a small heated pool, it is restricted for children, so families should plan accordingly. If you aren’t looking for heavy swimming, the sunbeds around the pool are excellent for relaxing and soaking in the peaceful environment.

Dining at The Sala

We spent a good amount of time at The Sala, which proved to be a convenient and pleasant spot for a meal. For the kids, the fried rice was a perfect choice—it was mild and kid-friendly. I also tried the Tom Yum pizza, which was a highlight; it captured the distinct flavors of Thai cuisine without being overly spicy, making it easy to share.

We paired our meal with a few drinks, including Pepsi, a coconut piña colada, and a mango smoothie. The mango smoothie was particularly impressive with its rich, authentic fruit flavor. The piña colada added a nice touch of vacation vibes to our afternoon, making the experience feel like a true getaway.

Family-Friendly Perks

One of the best surprises for my little one was the complimentary ice cream service. Children are offered two scoops of ice cream, which was a lovely treat that made our time at the restaurant even more enjoyable.

Final Thoughts

Overall, the pool and The Sala at the Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit are less about high-energy water activities and more about finding a quiet, comfortable space to recharge in the city. While the water temperature might limit your time in the pool, the combination of relaxing surroundings, good food, and kid-friendly perks makes it a solid choice for families looking to balance their Bangkok itinerary with some downtime.
