Traveling with a four-year-old requires careful planning to avoid fatigue from long commutes or excessive waiting. For our recent four-night stay in Bangkok, we prioritized location and ease of movement above all else. We wanted to avoid the city’s notorious traffic and minimize taxi use, so we chose the Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit for its exceptional accessibility. It proved to be a perfect home base for our family.
Location & Accessibility
The hotel’s greatest asset is its direct access to both the BTS and MRT lines. This connectivity allowed us to navigate the city effortlessly without worrying about traffic jams or getting caught in the rain. Being able to move around the city via public transit made our daily itinerary much more manageable and stress-free.
Room Features & Comfort
Our room was spacious, quiet, and well-maintained, providing a comfortable environment for our child to play safely. We requested bed guards via email prior to our arrival, and they were already installed when we checked in. The bathroom was a highlight, featuring beautiful tiling and Byredo amenities. While the TV wasn’t a smart model, the staff provided a complimentary Chromecast upon request, which was perfect for streaming our child’s favorite shows.
Service Highlights
The 24-hour butler service was a standout feature, handling everything from laundry and shoe shining to beverage delivery. The staff’s attitude toward children was truly impressive. Although the hotel lacks a dedicated kids’ club, the employees were so naturally kind and attentive to our child that we never felt the need for one. Upon request, they provided a full set of kid-specific amenities, including robes, slippers, toiletries, and even a step stool for the bathroom.
Dining & Facilities
Breakfast at the hotel is high-quality with a wide variety of options that cater to both adults and children. The staff were particularly helpful in suggesting kid-friendly menu items. We also enjoyed the pool area, which, while lacking a dedicated kids’ pool, offered a calm and stable environment for family water play. For those interested in fitness, there are two centers available, and the hotel hosts various complimentary activities, such as yoga classes, which are well worth checking out.
Practical Tips for Your Stay
If you are booking multiple stays, I recommend emailing the hotel (bkklcreservation@marriott.com) to link your reservations so you don’t have to check out and back in. We also make it a habit to ask for the minibar to be cleared upon arrival to make room for our own snacks and fruit. Regarding late check-out, while it is never guaranteed, we were fortunate to receive a complimentary extension until 6:00 PM, which was a lifesaver for our late-night flight. Overall, the combination of the hotel’s prime location and the staff’s genuine hospitality makes this a place I would happily choose again.
