A Riverside Retreat
During my October 2022 trip to Bangkok, I stayed at the Shangri-La Bangkok in a Deluxe River View room. I booked a three-night stay including breakfast through Interpark Tour for approximately 520,000 KRW. While some reviews mention the hotel feels a bit dated, I personally enjoyed the classic atmosphere. The room was comfortable, and I particularly appreciated the bedside USB and C-type charging ports, which made keeping my devices powered very convenient.

Breakfast with a View
Breakfast was a highlight of my stay. I made it a point to sit in the outdoor seating area every morning; feeling the river breeze while eating was incredibly relaxing. The Thai-style omelets and Thai milk tea were standout items that I highly recommend. While there was plenty of fresh mango and other options, I often found myself eating just enough to save room for the local food scene nearby.

Getting Around: BTS and Boats
One of the best features of this hotel is its location near Saphan Taksin. There is a corridor near the 3rd-floor gym that connects to the back of Robinson Department Store and the Saphan Taksin BTS station. Note that this passage is not open 24/7, so it is worth checking the hours during your stay.
For river transport, the Icon Siam free shuttle boat stops at the hotel pier every 15 minutes. If you are heading back to the hotel from Icon Siam, the boat departs on the hour. It is a very convenient way to access the shopping and dining options at Icon Siam.

Amenities and Local Access
I found the hotel facilities to be quite practical. The pool was deep enough for a proper swim, and since it wasn’t overly crowded, I had a great time there. For late-night cravings, the 24-hour room service was reliable; I ordered a quesadilla that came with fries and was quite tasty.
I love this area near Saphan Taksin because it perfectly balances local charm with modern convenience. With Robinson Department Store, Tops Market, and numerous local street food spots and massage shops nearby, everything you need is within reach. Whether you are taking a boat to the Grand Palace or catching a taxi to Chatuchak, the location makes navigating Bangkok much easier.
