My Solo Stay Experience

I recently spent three nights at the COMO Metropolitan Bangkok. While the hotel offers a luxurious atmosphere, it is important to understand the layout and logistics to make the most of your stay. If you are planning a visit, I highly recommend booking a Metropolitan room or higher; these categories offer significantly more space, which makes a world of difference for comfort.

Room and Service Observations

Upon arrival, I was greeted with a welcome tea, and a staff member escorted me to my room to explain the facilities. While I found the front desk staff to be professional, the service truly shined with the facility staff—those in the gym, spa, breakfast area, and pool were exceptionally kind.

One minor hiccup occurred with the mini-bar. I had requested it be cleared to make room for my own fruit, but due to a communication gap, the staff attempted to charge me for the items upon check-out. Thankfully, this was resolved once I explained the situation. Also, keep an eye out for the hotel slippers; they are high quality, and you can purchase a pair for 300 THB if you like them as much as I did.

Facility Highlights

The hotel’s facilities are a major draw. The 2nd-floor area is well-equipped with a gym, sauna, and a hot bath, all of which remain accessible even after you have checked out.

My personal highlight was the complimentary yoga class held every morning from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM. You must reserve your spot at the front desk in advance. As someone who rarely exercised before this trip, the experience was transformative and inspired me to continue practicing back home. Additionally, guests receive a discount voucher for the COMO Shambhala spa—750 THB off for services over 3,500 THB (limited to one per person).

Location is the biggest trade-off here. The hotel is not particularly close to public transport, and the hotel shuttle bus service is currently suspended with no confirmed date for resumption.

Because I was traveling solo, I relied heavily on motorbike taxis. There is a stand right in front of the hotel where drivers wait, making it easy to catch a ride to the nearest BTS station. For safety, I always asked the drivers to go slowly—using a translation app to communicate this—and I preferred to hold onto the bike frame rather than the driver. I also chose not to wear the provided helmets due to hygiene concerns. For longer distances, I stuck to standard taxis or public transit.

Summary of Pros and Cons

  • Pros: Spacious rooms (Metropolitan category and above), delicious breakfast, warm and expansive pool, excellent facility staff, and the ability to use amenities after check-out.
  • Cons: Challenging location for public transport and the current lack of a shuttle service.

If you are looking for a quiet, high-end base in Bangkok and don’t mind using motorbike taxis to get around, this hotel is a solid choice.
