Introduction: Visiting Charoen Saeng Silom near Shangri-La Bangkok
During my stay in Bangkok, I was eager to explore local food options. While I initially hoped to use delivery apps to save time, I found that Charoen Saeng Silom—a spot famous for its pork trotter rice—is exclusively available through the ‘Lineman’ app. Unfortunately, I couldn’t access this app with my Korean account. Since I was staying at the Shangri-La Bangkok, I decided that a short walk was a much easier solution than navigating delivery hurdles.

Location and Accessibility: Walking from Saphan Taksin and Shangri-La
Finding the restaurant was straightforward with the help of Google Maps. It is conveniently located within a 10-minute walk from the Shangri-La Bangkok and about 15 minutes from the Saphan Taksin BTS station and Sathon Pier. If you are staying at the Lebua State Tower, it is even closer, just a 5-minute walk away.
Ordering Experience: Takeout Process and Menu Options
Even in the morning, the restaurant was bustling with activity. When ordering, I opted for the 150-baht portion rather than the 70-baht option. I had read that the smaller portion lacks meat, and I wanted to ensure I got the tender, high-quality cuts. The staff was very efficient; I simply requested my order, and they quickly packed it up for takeout. I also ordered a side of rice to complete the meal.
Taste Review: The Pork Trotter Texture and Signature Sauce
Back at the hotel, I requested plates from the staff to enjoy my meal properly. I am typically not a fan of pork trotters—I usually prefer boiled pork slices—but this dish completely changed my mind. The meat was incredibly tender and flavorful. The signature dipping sauce provided with the meal is essential; it cuts through the richness of the pork perfectly, making every bite balanced and delicious.

Practical Tips: Why Takeout is a Great Option for Hotel Dining
Even though I had breakfast included at the Shangri-La, I am so glad I made the trip to try this. The takeout process is seamless, and it makes for a fantastic, indulgent meal in the comfort of your room. If I hadn’t already been full from the hotel breakfast, I could have easily finished the larger 300-baht portion on my own.
Conclusion: Final Thoughts on the Value and Taste
Charoen Saeng Silom is a local gem that truly lives up to the hype. Whether you are a pork lover or someone who usually avoids trotters, I highly recommend giving this a try. It is a delicious, high-value meal that is well worth the short walk from the nearby hotels.
